Learn how to make maori poi ball that will last you years. Te Hau Nui director, Kumu Lorraine Kaleiokalaua’e Kinnamon has made her own poi balls since the age of 15 and continues to share the tradition with her huamana or students. This class is open to the public and is an unusual opportunity to learn to make poi balls. As well as being used as traditional maori dance implements from New Zealand, poi balls make great gifts. Materials and refreshments are provided. The cost is $35 and registration must be made by February 15 – seating is limited and classes fill up fast. Please email to register.
